Julia Cahill is a multi-disciplinary artist born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA.

 

She earned her BFA from Carnegie Mellon University and has exhibited at the Mattress Factory Museum, Space Gallery, Future Tenant, and Monongalia Arts Center among other Pittsburgh venues. Julia has also performed at the Warhol Museum and New Hazlett Theatre.

Though she has depicted a range of subject matter, her recent paintings predominantly explore sexuality and the feminine light & dark.

In her performance & video work, she criticizes how the female body is represented and exploited in pop culture. She utilizes satire to juxtapose heavy content and make challenging topics more approachable.
